I Hate Kylie Jenner, Except ... I Love Her

By Isabella Coleman on April 15, 2016

The entire world knows the Kardashian/Jenner family and 75 percent of that world despises them. I am a part of that 75 percent, but Kylie Jenner specifically.

Probably because she is only three months older than me, so my hatred for her is deeper.

I just find her annoying: When she speaks it comes out very ignorant and interviewers are always having to clarify for her when she answers their questions.

Does not practice what she preaches: She has gotten far too much plastic surgery for an 18-year-old; whether that’s my business or not, it made me dislike her more. She has said time and time again how she believes girls should “be YOURSELF” yet every week she has a different hair color, haircut, or lip filler.

She is trying to grow up too fast: She constantly flaunts her body, dresses too old for her age, and hangs out with and dates people twice her age. I feel like if I saw her doing more regular, teenage girl activities I would not be as irritated with her.

Jealousy: Yes I admit, of course, part of it is just my petty jealousy for everything someone a couple months older than me has: her fame, money, house, clothes, even friends. And for what … ? Not a talent, just for being born in the right family.

Yet all this being said … I still found myself setting an alarm for the exact minute her Lip Kit came out and checking my mailbox three times a day to see if it had arrived yet.

I wore my hair in french braids when I saw how cute they were on her. Kylie pulled off both neon blue and neon pink hair so well, if it were not for my job prohibiting it, I would have dyed my hair blue or pink too. And judging by the amount of teenage girls with failed attempts of blue hair around the world last summer, I am not the only one that feels this way.

I am obsessed with the fashion and beauty industry and Kylie has a huge impact on it; that is amazing to me. She does not follow trends, she starts them. This girl could wear paper bags as shoes and a banana peel as a headband and the next day all grocery stores would be sold out of paper bags and bananas.

And she does not mind that people mimic her; in fact, she encourages it. She tells fans what she is wearing and where she bought it, but then also tells them where they can buy an almost identical outfit at a much cheaper price. I truly believe she does not give any cares about what anyone or everyone thinks about her. She wears, does, and says what she wants and nobody’s opinion is going to change that.

She has been compared to her sisters since she was a little girl, yet has found a way to separate herself and be known as her own person, not just as one of the Kardashian’s younger sisters. I am jealous of some of the material things she has, but I do not wish I had her life. I cannot imagine the harsh reality of being followed by cameras 24/7 and criticized for every little thing I do or say. However that IS Kylie Jenner’s life and although she has her flaws, she makes that life look easy, and I think she is a pretty awesome person for that.
